Hey guys,

Its been a pretty good 8 or so years in Thailand. I had too much to drink and saw too many girls, met a lot of strange people (expats) and met a lot of nice youtube fans, plus made a few friends.

Now ive gone off Thailand. If I was retired, minted and single, then it would be a great place to live – although too hot of course.

Right now, im still in my mid 40s and need to work more. The house in the UK is paid off, so there is a lot of equity in that – maybe 90 thousand pounds each for myself and my brother, plus I have about £40,000 in savings – a couple of small online businesses which bring in a bit of money. So as it stands, I have got about £130k to my name. No way can I afford to retire in Thailand.

Living in Thailand cost me easily over £1200 a month – easily! I simply could not enjoy my life on the income I had. Work opportunities in Thailand are not that great and wages are low. If I was to quit the beer, then I could afford to live there – but who want to do that? Thailand has never been cheap for going out for a few beers – cheaper than drinking in many bars in the uk, but its still expensive for a night out if you drink like I do.

So its Vietnam for me.

Beer is about 50p a pint if you know where to look, the food is ok, women are more beautiful in my eyes, and you can work there! I am spending (and earning more) less in Vietnam – about £750 a month! I had a really nice apartment which would have cost loads in Bangkok (another capital city such as Hanoi where I will be living). And yes, you can work there.

So – so long Thailand, ill still go there now and again for visa runs as its close to VN – and i can see a few mates.

Now its time for a new chapter, which is Vietnam.
