Well, I have done it! A couple of days ago I purchased a second hand car.
I first was considering buying a brand new car as a lot of people seam to think buying new is a good idea. I did not actually enter a new car showroom, so maybe I was not too serious about it in the end. I did go around several second hand car dealers and looked at a few motors they had. I was after a Honda City in Black (always wanted a black car!) – I was hoping to spend around 400,000b which is £8,000 at todays exchange rate. I think it was a bit of a bad idea buying now when the exchange rate is so crappy as I had to bring my pounds in to get it, but £8,000 is not that much for me.
So I looked at a lot of Honda Cities and there were a couple of possibilities – what I actually did though was to buy a car off my
landlady! She had a nice Honda Jazz in black with alloy wheels (think they all do) and I asked her if she wanted to sell it to me – she did. It was a 2005 model 1.5, 77k (km) on the clock with 5 months insurance and full service history. Apparently 77k is fairly low millage for a Thai car of its age. Anyway, I payed 396,500 for it which is not an amazing deal, but I trusted her much more than I trusted the car dealers – she says the car has never gone wrong and no accidents, so fingers crossed it will be ok.
I will get a picture up of the beast soon, but my iphone got stolen
so no pictures right now.
