I have a Honda Jazz and its now 7 years old. This means that I now have to get my car checked before I can buy my tax. I took the car to a tax place last week as my tax was due to expire and i’d get a fine from the police if I don’t have any.

The tax place took a copy of my cars serial number – we call it a VIN in the UK – not sure what they call it here, but I think it is to check to see if its stolen or not.

After this check, then I had to go inside to pay the money for my tax certificate – it was 2650b or about £50 / $80 for the year – not bad when you think how much it is in the UK – I am betting 3 times that much.

Well I am just keeping my fingers crossed now that I dont get pulled over by the police – I only have the receipt which shows I have paid for my tax rather than the actual certificate itself – I am betting that I am going to get a fine if I dont have the correct document – and it will be a much larger fine than I would pay if I was a Thai!
